Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Refract for the use of Refract on the web, on iOS and on Android.
Last updated 7 August 2026
1.Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using Refract you agree to these terms. If you are using Refract for an employer or client, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms on their behalf.
If you do not agree, do not use the service. You can stop at any time by deleting your account.
2.Your account
You need an account to use Refract. Accounts are created and secured through our authentication provider, and you are responsible for keeping access to your sign-in method safe and for everything done under your account.
You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher.
3.What Refract does
Refract turns screenshots and artwork into store screenshots, social posts and print pieces, projecting one design onto every canvas size you select and exporting them at the exact pixel dimensions each destination expects.
Refract is a design tool. We are not affiliated with Apple, Google, or any social network, and we cannot guarantee that anything you make with Refract will be accepted by them. Their review rules are theirs alone.
4.Plans, billing and renewal
Refract has a free plan and a paid plan, Pro. Current prices and what each plan includes are on the pricing page.
On the web, subscriptions are handled by our payment processor. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
In the iOS and Android apps, subscriptions are sold by Apple or Google as in-app purchases. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation, renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and is managed and cancelled in your store account settings rather than by us. Refunds for those purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
A subscription bought on any surface unlocks Pro everywhere you sign in with the same account. Buying on more than one surface does not stack, so you would simply be paying twice. Cancel the one you do not want.
We may change prices. Changes take effect at your next renewal and we will tell you before that happens. Taxes may be added where required.
5.Free plan limits
The free plan is capped, currently on the number of projects, screens per project, store sizes and monthly exports. The exact numbers are shown in the app and on the pricing page, and we may adjust them as the product changes.
If you downgrade, nothing is deleted. Work beyond the free limits becomes read-only until you upgrade again or remove enough to fit.
6.Your content stays yours
You keep every right you have in the screenshots, images, text and designs you bring to Refract or make with it. We claim no ownership.
To run the service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, render and display your content, strictly to operate and support Refract for you. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies in routine backups that age out.
We do not use your content to train machine-learning models, and we do not show it to anyone else unless you publish it or ask us to help with it in a support conversation.
7.Rights you need to have
You are responsible for having the rights to what you upload, including app screenshots, logos, trademarks, fonts and photographs. Do not upload anything you are not allowed to use.
Illustrations, icons and fonts supplied inside Refract come from third parties and are licensed for use in designs you create with Refract. You may not extract them and redistribute them as assets in their own right.
8.Acceptable use
Do not use Refract to:
- break the law, or infringe someone else's rights;
- impersonate another app, brand or person, or produce store listings designed to mislead;
- upload malware, or attempt to breach, overload or reverse-engineer the service;
- resell or white-label Refract without a written agreement with us;
- create sexual content involving minors, or content that promotes violence or hatred against people.
We may suspend or close accounts that do these things, usually after a warning where the situation allows one.
9.Availability and changes
We aim to keep Refract available and fast, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something significant that you rely on as a paying customer, we will tell you and, where that leaves you materially worse off, offer a pro-rata refund of the unused part of your term.
10.Ending the agreement
You can stop using Refract and delete your account whenever you like. Deleting your account removes your projects and uploaded files from our systems; export anything you want to keep first.
We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue Refract, we will give reasonable notice and refund the unused part of any paid term.
11.Warranties and liability
Refract is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost revenue, or lost or corrupted data arising from your use of Refract. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep your statutory rights.
12.Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you uploaded or published through Refract, or because you used Refract in breach of these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result.
13.If you downloaded Refract from the App Store
These terms are between you and Refract only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for Refract or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it.
If Refract fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to Refract, including product liability, failure to conform to legal requirements, or consumer protection claims. If a third party claims Refract infringes their intellectual property, we are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
14.Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the country where you live, and mandatory local consumer law still applies to you.
15.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will give notice by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Refract after that date means you accept the new version.
